National High School Game Academy (NHSGA)

A 6-week program designed to teach students video game development through lectures and collaborative projects.
Additional Information:
Weeks 1-3: Lectures, workshops, skill building (5 hours of classes, 2-3 hours of homework)
Weeks 4-6: Collaborative projects, presentations (8+ hours daily)
Applicants must be at least 16 years old by the program start date and have a minimum GPA of 3.0
Application materials include submitting an unofficial transcript, 1 letter of recommendation, a portfolio of creative works, standardized test scores (optional), and 2 essays.
Computer Science Scholars (CSS)
Carnegie Mellon University
A 4-week residential program giving high schoolers an introduction to programming and Python.
Additional Information:
Students will engage with computer science industry leaders
Program is no-cost
Open to rising high school juniors and rising high school seniors
Application materials include submitting a transcript, standardized test scores, 1 counselor letter of recommendation, 1 teacher letter of recommendation, and essays
Riot Games
Application opens: September 2022
A paid, full-time 10-week internship for college students to gain experience and work in game development
Additional Information:
Interns have to be at least 18 years old
Commitment of 40 hours per week (work hours are generally 10 am to 7 pm)
Applicants do not have to be full-time college students but must be enrolled in some form of college courses (including individual courses, online courses, certificate programs)
Applicants usually have to complete 3-4 interviews
Summer internships are located in Los Angelos and Redwood City
