Smith Summer Science & Engineering Program (SSEP)

Smith College is a top-ranked liberal arts women’s college and its summer programs are designed for female-identified and gender-nonconforming students. This Science & Engineering program spans 4 weeks and provides students with hands-on research in life and physical science and engineering.
Additional Information:
Students choose 2-week research courses where they will be grouped with others to attend lectures and conduct experiments
Tuition: $7,298, Deposit: $1,450
Application Information:
Open to rising freshmen, rising sophomores, rising juniors, and rising seniors
Application materials include submitting a transcript, 1 academic letter of recommendation, a financial aid form, and answering a personal essay question
Summer Academy for Math and Science (SAMS)
Carnegie Mellon University

A 5-week program that allows students to learn from CMU faculty and gain knowledge in STEM through hands-on projects and seminars.
Additional Information:
Part I: The first few days are virtual and are for skill-building
Part II: The next 4 weeks are in-person classes at CMU, ending with a symposium
Program is free
Application Information:
Applicants must be at least 16 years old by the time of program start date
Applicants must be high school juniors at the time of applying
Low-income and underrepresented minorities are encouraged to apply
University of Rochester
Deadline: April 2023
A 3-week length program where students, paired with a mentor, will create a video and poster project/presentation about pathology and laboratory medicine. Students can choose to focus on Anatomic Pathology or Clinical Pathology/Laboratory Medicine; both will introduce students to subspecialties through lectures, presentations, and hands-on simulations.
